As we celebrate #BlackHistoryMonth, we honor the legacy, perseverance and patriotism of the Montford Point Marines. A visit the the Montford Point Marine Memorial at Lejeune Memorial Gardens helps bring their contribution into perspective. The memorial includes an artillery cannon, representative of WWII weaponry that all US Marines used and trained with. The sculpture represents all Montford Point Marines and represents when Montford Pointers shifted from being support personnel to defenders during the war.
