As delicious as the barbecue is, the inspiring story behind Legacy Barbecue in Jacksonville, North Carolina, and its owner, Ashley Thompson will touch your heart. It’s about two friends with a passion for the pit that eventually landed Thompson on Netflix’s show, American Barbecue Showdown.

After taping the show, Thompson, a North Carolina native, brought his talents to Jacksonville, NC, setting up his food truck and catering business just as the City of Jacksonville updated its ordinance for allowing food trucks to operate within city limits.
You can taste some of Legacy BBQ’s deliciousness at Humphrey Farms’ Eastern NC’s Battle of the BBQ Trucks event on August 28, 2021, in Hubert, NC, which will also feature a Mac ‘n Cheese cook-off. A fun day with great food is in store!
