Onslow County offers a diverse array of trails catering to walkers, cyclists, and paddlers alike. At Hammocks Beach State Park, hikers can explore a 3-mile wooded trail leading to the serene shores of Bear Island. Cyclists have options ranging from the 5-mile Rails to Trails Greenway in Jacksonville to the scenic 21-mile City to Sea Trail. For paddling enthusiasts, the Cow Horn/New River Paddle Trail provides a 16.85-mile journey through cypress-lined waterways, offering opportunities to observe local wildlife.
