The 41st Annual National Travel and Tourism Week (NTTW) 2024 (May 19-25) spotlights the collective strength of the U.S. travel industry as well as right here in our local communities, #OnlyinOnslow!

NTTW, the annual celebration of the contributions of the U.S. travel industry, will spotlight the essential role that travel will play in driving economic growth and innovation through the theme #TravelForward. In 2022, travel to Onslow County generated $33.49 million in economic output, supported over 2,000 American jobs and provided state/local tax savings per resident of $131. Plus, in 2022 Onslow County collected over $4 million in occupancy tax which is a 5% increase from the previous year.

Jones Island Eco-Tour

Enjoy this ranger-guided trip over to Jones Island, a coastal island located in the White Oak River overlooking Swansboro. You will discover some of the ecosystems that can be found on the island and learn about some of the ways the park is trying to help protect these natural resources. Space is limited; REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED by contacting the park office: (910) 326-4881.

Ride for Freedom with Rolling Thunder Chapter 5

This Memorial Day Weekend event will take place at American Legion Post 265 Fairgrounds in Jacksonville. Multiple law enforcement agency escort the ride through Onslow County and Jacksonville to continue the tradition which began in 1988 in Washington, DC to raise awareness 0f the POW/MIA issue.
